At The Foray Firm, our team is committed to protecting our clients’ best interests and preserving the dignity of families who are facing difficult transitions. Attorney Masah SamForay believes in providing high-quality legal services to any individual facing a family law issue, no matter their background, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

We believe in supporting individuals who have a desire to practice law. Each semester, our firm offers a $1,000 scholarship to an African-American law student who demonstrates a passion for family law and related matters.

What Are The Application Requirements?

To be considered for The Foray Firm Black Law Student Scholarship, students must submit a video of no more than 5 minutes discussing one of the following prompts:

How have your life experiences helped you develop the necessary skills to excel as an attorney in family law?

The Foray Firm believes in providing reliable representation to every person facing a difficult legal matter, regardless of their background, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. What principles will be important to you in your future legal practice, and why?

Domestic violence is an issue that affects people regardless of race, class, or culture. How do you hope to approach this issue as an attorney and address the cross-cultural factors that play a role in these cases?

What obstacles have you faced so far in your pursuit of becoming an attorney? How have you dealt with these challenges, and how do you plan on persevering through the obstacles ahead of you?

Academic Transcript

You must submit your most recent (unofficial) academic transcript indicating your cumulative GPA and year in school.

Proof of Enrollment*

If your most recent transcript does not indicate your enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school, you must upload a document such as an enrollment confirmation letter, class schedule, etc., that confirms your enrollment for the upcoming 2023 semester.

Proof of Membership with the Hispanic Law Students' Association*

Applicants must hold membership with the Hispanic Law Students' Association to be considered for this award.

The Fall 2023 Black Law Student Scholarship is operated by The Foray Firm and runs from December 9, 2022 to June 6, 2023. All students who are at least 16 years old and are legal residents of the United States are eligible (additional eligibility may apply). Void where prohibited by law.
